Tyler, Texas is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas, is 90 miles east of Dallas off I-20 and 90 miles west of Shreveport at the intersection of US 69. Known as the Rose Capital of America, Tyler is the world's Largest grower of commercially produced rose bushes. From a pioneer settlement in the 1840's, Tyler economic base became one of trade and commerce. The railroad soon arrived, and Tyler was open to the world.

Industry and manufacturing fueled the economy along with fruit and vegetable packing and shipping. Tyler's economic base was again reshaped with the discovery of oil and gas in the 1930's. Oil was an important factor in Tyler's economy for 30 years. Today, Tyler serves as the regional manufacturing, health care, educational and retail center of Greater East Texas.
