This 100 acres became the site of the Longview, Texas. The city plat, laid out by the railroad established Central (now called Center) Street and Tyler Street intersection as the meeting point for East/West and North/South. The city received its name when railroad surveyors, standing on Mr. Methvin's front porch on top of Rock Hill remarked on the long view one had from that vantage point.
