Piney Woods
region, the town of Montgomery, Texas is in
Montgomery
county.
Many consider Montgomery to be the birthplace of the Texas flag. Although this town is one of the oldest and smallest in Texas many in the surrounding area call Montgomery home.
Started as a trading post in 1826 Montgomery was the first county seat of Montgomery County. Being just a small trip north from Houston makes it easy for visitors to stop by and see the historic downtown and other local attractions.
