Texas Independence Trail
The Texas Independence Trail Region,
incorporating 28 counties from Liberty (east of Houston) along the Gulf Coast to
Refugio (south of Victoria) to San Antonio (Bexar County) in the west and to
Washington County in the north, encourages travelers to experience the spirit of
the Texas independence story. The saga of the struggle for Texas' independence
is one of the most recognized in the world. The larger than life images of Texas
heroes and settlers resonate throughout this state and country and beyond.
Mountain Trail Region
Majestic mountains and vast desert stretches
dominate six westernmost counties that comprise the Texas Mountain Trail Region.
Once the home of nomadic tribes, culturally rich cities established by
enterprising pioneers and adventurers now dot the area.
Pecos Trail Region
In addition to the natural beauty that
encourages a variety of outdoor adventures from river rafting to horseback
riding - tourists also enjoy eclectic oil, flight, presidential and ranching
themed museums, discovering ancient pictographs, landmark churches, or historic
courthouse square cafes where ranchers and cowboys still gather.
Hill Country Trail Region
Considered one of the most beautiful areas of
Texas, The Texas Hill Country Regions comes alive with rolling hills
wildflowers, lakes and streams. The Hill Country is home to Wild game, dude
ranches, honkytonks and everything cowboy. Located in the center of the state,
the Texas Hill Country is just down the road no matter where you are in the
state. This is a must see region of Texas.
Tropical Trail Region
The Texas Tropical Trail Region will showcase
the heritage, natural beauty and rich culture of South Texas for the benefit and
enjoyment of Texans and travelers.
Brazos Trail Region
The Texas Brazos Trail is an eighteen-county
area of Central Texas which roughly stretches from Waco to College Station to
Georgetown. This area of Texas is rich in the early history of the state.
Explorers found the waters of the Brazos River to be the lifeblood of their
quest, establishing numerous colonies that thrived and became the cities we now
know. The railroad and cotton were of critical importance to the development of
the region. Some of the most beautiful architecture in the state is preserved in
the old homes and historic downtown areas of these cities.
