Grand Prairie, Texas The land for the present site of Grand Prairie was acquired in 1863 by trading a broken wagon, an oxen team, and two hundred dollars of Confederate money. This progressive, growing city continues as a hub of tourism and commerce for the 2000's. Home of several popular tourist attractions, Grand prairie is located in the center of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex with something for everyone: horse racing, shopping, outdoor recreation, museums, performance hall and a variety of restaurants.
