Shakespeare's 1598 romantic comedy follows the continuing adventures of the famous rowdy knight Sir John Falstaff, as he tries to swindle a pair of wealthy women, only to have them hatch plans of their own. Directed by Texas State University Shakespeare professor Joe Falocco, this delightfully distilled production is clear, concise, and deliciously bawdy. Amid rollicking subterfuge and subplots involving suitors of a winsome maiden, events take many an unexpected turn. Staged to reflect the style of the 16th century production, when audiences surrounded the actors on three sides, the play will include some seating for willing patrons on stage.
